

Here are details of some of the local places that are worth a visit and they may help you to plan some outings during your stay at the farm. Glastonbury Tourist Information Centre can be contacted on 01458 832954 or visit their website at www.glastonburytic.co.uk for more useful information. www.mendip.gov.uk is worth looking at, go to the leisure and culture section. Always try for a group discount when booking or visiting attractions.

Walking distance
Glastonbury town and tor- Abbey, Chalice well gardens, Rural life museum, colourful shops, cafes and restaurants. There are footpaths from the farm up to the tor (historic hill and landmark), you can also visit the two ancient oak trees Gog and Magog on the way.
Within 15 minutes drive
Peat Moors Visitors Centre, Westhay. Visitor centre about the neolithic people of the Somerset Levels. Reconstructed round-houses and trackways. They have an interesting calendar of events. Cafe nearby. (01458 860697)
Westhay National Nature Reserve. Wetland reserve with bird hides and easy walks. During the winter, famous for the starling roosting displays at around sunset. This is an amazing wildlife spectacle not to be missed.
Horseriding. There is a riding school close by at Burcott, about 6 miles away, with lessons or lane hacking (01749 673145). Another riding school at Ebbor, near Wells has an indoor arena for wet weather riding and has summer riding on the nearby hills and fields ( 01749 672550 ).

Wookey Hole, near Wells. Tour of the impressive caves and other attractions including museum, penny arcade and various childrens play areas. (01749 672243).
Wells - Small, attractive cathedral city. Excellent markets on Wednesday and Saturday mornings.
Swimming Pools. At Street.(01458 443918 – indoor), (01458 442468 – outdoor - summer only).
Within 30 minutes drive
Cheddar Caves and Gorge. A very popular visitor area. Guided tours around the caves and several souvenir shops. The road up through the gorge has spectacular scenery and there are several parking bays with footpaths leading off into the hills around the Gorge.(01934 742343)
Carymoor Environmental Centre. Visitor centre geared towards environmental education, energy and waste issues. (01963 350143)
Further afield
Longleat Safari Park, Wiltshire. About 45 minute drive although a full days visit is necessary to see everything and drive through the wildlife area - Lions, Monkeys, Giraffes etc.(01985 844400)
The Seaside. The west coast is closest and takes about 45 minutes to reach - Burnham-On-Sea and Brean Down. The beaches are sandy/muddy and when the sea is out it is a very long way out! The south coast is a little further, just over one hour.
